DISCOVER BRAINIX

So much more than a digital textbook

Exciting, easy-to-understand teaching, interactive practice, and constant feedback for students, teachers, and parents ensure teaching and learning success throughout the entire school year.

Teaching concept

Mediation through the software

With Brainix, students acquire the basic skills of a school subject largely independently and self-directed. Further study takes place with the teacher, using Brainix exercises and their own teaching methods. Brainix content and exercises cover approximately 50% of the scheduled class time, and a similar amount of homework time.

Material distribution

Brainix substance distribution scheme

A school year is divided into chapters, and each chapter is divided into a total of approximately 35 lessons, one per school week. Each lesson contains a framework with tasks for implicit skill acquisition. If the minimum score is achieved in the tasks, students take part in a small test, the Challenge. Additional tasks are available to make up for missing points or to learn more.

Teaching organization

At the end of each week, the teacher unlocks a lesson and assigns independent work leading up to the challenge at the end of the following week. During the week, the teacher continuously monitors the class's progress on the Brainix monitor. Students who are falling behind are addressed and supported individually in class. The challenge can be completed independently at home or together in class at the end of the week, at the teacher's discretion.

New teaching models

Brainix teaching models
Brainix Unterrichtsmodelle

Knowledge acquisition with Brainix can be largely shifted to homework time, according to the flipped classroom model , while in-depth study and individualization then take place in class. In the split-classroom model, the class is split in half most of the time. One half works independently with Brainix, for example, in the library, while the rest is taught at half the class size. Independent learning and simple monitoring by teachers enable further, innovative teaching models without risk.

Brainix introduces students to rational numbers, area, volume, and percentage calculations in a varied way. A birthday party serves as the perfect introduction to the world of fractions. A visit to the zoo, a stint as an architect, and a cruise bring topics like trapezoids, interest, and double fractions to life! Tasks alternate with playful elements that reinforce learned knowledge.

Platform features

Brainix textbooks are embedded in platform features that ensure consistent and easy use by students, teachers, and school administration.

User management

Users with the "School Administration" role create students, teachers, and parents in the system and organize them into classes and subject groups. Teachers can reset their students' passwords.

Innovations

Digital learning is just beginning. To maximize its potential for optimal teaching and learning success, Brainix is constantly being developed using the latest technologies.

New explanation and task formats: With each chapter, new textbooks introduce additional methods and technologies that make it easier for students to understand connections or consolidate knowledge. This increases the variety of task types and explanation methods, ensuring varied learning.

Artificial intelligence: In Brainix, it ensures high-quality interactions between learners and the software and relieves teachers of correction work. Constantly evolving, it provides increasingly precise responses to student input. Where texts, voice recordings, and other attempted solutions are sent to the teacher, the AI performs preliminary corrections with increasing precision.

Self-regulated learning: The more students decide for themselves when and how they learn, the higher their motivation and learning success. Using the platform's new weekly planning tool, learners reserve time blocks for specific Brainix tasks. At the beginning of each lesson, they set performance goals. Brainix then monitors the quality of the solutions, compiles practice exercises based on the desired performance goal and any gaps in knowledge, and suggests them to the students. Teachers, in turn, intervene to provide support.

Data protection concept

Brainix takes comprehensive measures to ensure maximum protection of personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and its country- and education-specific amendments.

Privacy by Design

The Brainix software ensures data economy by storing only the personal data absolutely necessary for successful learning with Brainix. Furthermore, all information beyond pure user management is processed exclusively using pseudonymized data: Each user is now identified solely by a 16-digit code (GUID).

Organizational measures

The organization of the data allows for separation into a highly secure and a regular area: Employees in the highly secure area, who are also responsible for the operation and technical support of the system and thus have access to data with direct personal references, are subject to particularly strict data protection measures. Employees in the regular area, such as management and those involved in software development, work exclusively with pseudonymized data.

Support for schools

The Brainix data protection concept ensures that only personal data that is absolutely necessary for the operation of Brainix and digital learning and is permitted according to the requirements of the state authorities is stored. Schools are generally responsible for compliance with data protection regulations vis-à-vis students and parents. To enable them to fulfill their corresponding information obligations to parents with minimal effort, Brainix provides schools with the following tested text templates and documentation:

  • Suggested text for data protection notice to parents

  • Contract agreement with the operator of Brainix

  • Brainix processing directory, to supplement the school's existing processing directory

  • Data protection impact assessment report including risk analysis

  • Suggested text for parental consent (if they are granted their own access to Brainix)

The internal documentation, including the technical and organizational measures (TOM), is available to educational institutions upon request.
